Top Ratings for AHS Choirs at CMEA

Congratulations to the Albany High School Choirs on their outstanding performances this weekend at the CMEA Festival in Lafayette!
For the second year in a row, the AHS Chorale received a Unanimous Superior rating, the highest rank possible at this festival. The Women’s Choir also received a Superior rating, and the Men’s Choir an excellent rating.
The California Music Education Association is made up of music educators at all levels of schooling, and it holds the CMEA Area Festivals in Choral, Band, Orchestra, Jazz, and Chamber music throughout the year. Adjudicators and sight-reading clinicians come from all over the Bay Area, using state-standard rubrics and personal experience to create a top-level festival experience.
The choirs had to be up as early as 6:00am to make it to Lafayette for their performance times. Two of the choirs faced heavy traffic (upwards of an extra 30 minutes) caused by three road accidents before the Caldecott tunnel. In spite of the setbacks, they did a terrific, professional job. Congratulations again!
